This site visit includes a visit to Koeberg Nuclear Power Station Visitor's Centre and the Ankerlig Combined Cycle Gas Turbine plant. Koeberg is Africa's only operational nuclear power plant, and a must-visit experience that perfectly complements Enlit’s programme on nuclear energy. Koeberg plays a crucial role in South Africa’s energy mix, providing reliable and low-carbon electricity.  Ankerlig Power Station is a large gas turbine plant which plays a crucial role in the nation’s electricity supply.

Eskom’s ongoing electrification projects in the Western Cape will form part of this tour, which also includes a visit to the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the Hex Substation. This tour will take in the Zandvliet Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW) in Khayelitsha, and the Bellville Integrated Waste Management Facility. Zandvliet WWTW’s recent R2 billion upgrade, completed in 2023, increased the plant’s capacity from 72 to 90 million litres per day to meet the needs of the city’s growing population.

I will be participating in the site visits in the Western Cape on Friday, 23 May 2025 organised and conducted by VUKA Group. 

I hereby confirm that I am aware of, and agree to the terms and conditions listed below, such agreement being a condition for participation in the tour. 

Conditions of participation: 

I hereby indemnify VUKA Group against any injury, harm or loss of whatsoever nature suffered by me at any time during the tour (and not only whilst participating in the activities) arising from any cause whatsoever including but not limited to illness, accident, theft, injury or death. This exemption from liability shall apply even where the injury, harm or loss referred to above is caused by the negligence of any of the parties.
